Milan Trajkovic

Milan was born in a small town of Serbia called, Surdulica and lived there with his family until the age of 9.

He later moved to Cyprus with his family due to the dangerous environment caused by the NATO bombing of Serbia.

Since then Milan has lived in Limassol, Cyprus and proudly represents the country in the highest level sport competitions around the world.

Early life

Milan always had a passion for sports.  He first started playing football for the local club Apollon FC before finding his one true love, 110m Hurdles at the age of 17, after winning the national school championship.

He tried to combine the two sports but the difficulty of training for both sports in a high level is too hard so after competing in the European Junior Championships in 2011 Milan decided to focus on his track&field career.

First achivement

Milan’s first big achievemnt came in 2013 when he broke the Cyprus National Record for the first time with 13.67 at European Team Championship 2nd League, Kaunas (the previous national record was 13.81.)

The National Record today after been broken 7 times by Milan is 13.25. He is also the National Record holder for 60m hurdles with 7.51.

Incredible 2016

The most important year in Milan’s career so far has been 2016. Going into the new season with a personal best 13.65, race after race he improved and broke the National Record several times. Milan competed in the European Championships in Amsterdam where he ran an incredible 13.39 giving him the 5th place and a ticket to compete for the first time in the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro making a dream come true through his resilience and hard work.
At the Olympic Games Milan surprised everyone with an incredible race in the semi-final breaking the National Record once again and qualifying for the final where he finished 7th. Racing in the final of the Olympics marks Milan’s greatest achievement yet.
In March 2019 Milan Trajkovic became the first ever athlete from Cyprus to win a gold medal in European Indoor Championships history.
He clinched the gold medal in the 60 metres hurdles at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, with 7.60.
